Monitoring

Rail Track Monitoring

Tantek 4D provides rail monitoring services that support effective risk management during construction and operational activities. Our manual and automated monitoring solutions give clients early visibility of changes in rail behaviour, enabling timely action to protect safety, operations and asset integrity throughout a project lifecycle.

By monitoring key track parameters such as alignment, cant, twist and settlement, potential issues can be identified before they escalate.
Automated monitoring systems are capable to provide real-time alerts when agreed thresholds are exceeded, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed and able to respond quickly.

Survey-based monitoring delivers accurate baseline and periodic measurements to validate performance and support informed decision-making. All monitoring activities, data processing and reporting are delivered in line with relevant rail standards and project-specific requirements, with outputs structured to integrate seamlessly with asset management and project workflows.

Structural Monitoring

Tantek 4D provides structural monitoring services that support effective risk management for both temporary and permanent structures. Our monitoring gives clients clear visibility of how structures behave during construction and operation, providing the information needed for informed decision-making throughout a project lifecycle.

By monitoring movement, deflection, rotation and crack behaviour, potential issues can be identified early and managed before they affect safety, programme or asset performance. Monitoring data supports critical activities such as excavation works, façade retention and construction sequencing.

Manual and automated monitoring solutions provide continuous or interval-based data, depending on project requirements. All results are engineer-interpreted and presented through clear reporting and dashboards, enabling coordinated action across project teams and stakeholders.

Environmental Monitoring

Tantek 4D provides environmental monitoring services that support effective risk management for construction and infrastructure projects. Our monitoring helps clients understand and manage the impact of works on surrounding communities and sensitive environments, supporting informed decision-making throughout a project lifecycle.

By monitoring air quality, noise and vibration, potential exceedances can be identified early and managed before they lead to complaints, delays or regulatory issues. This supports the protection of residents and the public from excessive noise and air quality impacts, while helping to safeguard nearby structures and assets from vibration-related damage. Continuous monitoring and early warning alarm systems allow site teams to respond quickly to changing conditions and implement mitigation measures when required.

Monitoring systems provide real-time data and alerts aligned with project-specific thresholds, supported by clear reporting suitable for regulatory compliance and stakeholder communication. This approach helps clients maintain control, demonstrate compliance and manage environmental risk effectively.

Road Monitoring for Trenchless Works

Tantek 4D provides road surface surveying and monitoring services to support trenchless construction beneath national roads. Our monitoring solutions help manage the risk of settlement and surface movement during construction, supporting compliance with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) requirements and the safe delivery of infrastructure projects.

Trenchless techniques such as tunnelling, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), micro-tunnelling (MTM), pipe jacking and moleing offer significant benefits in reducing surface disruption. However, these methods can introduce risks to the road structure if ground conditions, groundwater levels or construction loads are not carefully controlled. Road monitoring plays a critical role in identifying and managing these risks.

Monitoring road surface levels before, during and after trenchless works allows potential movement to be identified at an early stage. This helps reduce the risk of damage to the carriageway, hard shoulder and surrounding assets, while minimising disruption to road users and avoiding unplanned remedial works.

Surveys are undertaken using high-precision reflectorless and scanning techniques, enabling monitoring to be carried out without accessing the live motorway. Measurements are typically taken from outside the carriageway, often from behind the crash barrier or verge, reducing the need for traffic management while maintaining a high standard of safety and data quality.

Monitoring reports clearly present baseline levels, subsequent survey results and calculated level differences at each monitoring location. Results are typically issued in tabular and graphical formats, allowing changes in road surface levels to be easily reviewed and trends over time clearly identified.

This service provides assurance to road authorities, designers and contractors that trenchless works are being effectively monitored and that the integrity of the national road network is being protected.
